113 Broadway Street in Glenboro demolished

After a few delays, the building formerly found at 113 Broadway Street in Glenboro has been removed.

According to the Glenboro history book, ‘Beneath the Long Grass’, this building has housed a number of businesses over the years.
Starting out as a hardware store in 1888, McWhinnery & Butchert were the first.

Following McWhinnery and Butchert 1888-1890 were; Alfred Doig 1890 – 1901, Doig & Wilcox 1901 – 1906, A Doig 1906 – 1939, Patterson & Williams 1939 – 1947, G & K Willis 1947 – 1951, T.G. Faulkner 1951 – 1952, and Neil McLeod 1972 -1973.

Following having the space housing hardware stores, Foord-Kelcey’s Menswear opened, later being taken over by Leitner Menswear.

Tru-Fit Dentures operated by Denturist D. Trapp, who had other offices located in Portage la Prairie, Carman and Killarney, came to his office in Glenboro every Thursday offering 2 hour denture repair and consultations.

The final business in this building’s history was Pat’s Hair Fashion, operated by Pat Fisher, who moved her thriving shop from Railway Street. During her time at 113 Broadway, her business continued to grow and prosper.

Every building has a history!
