Tons of fun at Pound Pail & Paddle
Wawanesa knows how to have fun as Pound Pail and Paddle winds up for another year.
The Oakland Wawanesa Fire Department held a breakfast that outdid all others. To say is was amazing didn’t do it justice.
Oakland Wawanesa Fire Chief Dennis Gullett shared; “We served approximately 450 breakfasts, with the proceeds being added to the equipment fund for water rescue gear.
“Thank you so much to the group who organized the weekend, and thank you to everyone who came out and supported our fundraiser. We are looking forward to next year!”
The chariot-building teams got down to work creating their masterpieces before showing them off in the parade held before the big race.
This year there was a last-minute change from boats to chariots as the water level was way too high, making it unsafe, with the chariots working out just fine. Nine teams battled it out with: First place going to the Valley Gurls team: Brynn, Jensen, Rylee, Keagan, Jenna; Second place went to the Pickled Pusher team: Dylan, Kyle, Wyatt, Tanner; Third place went to Trav’s Bald Bros: Greg, Morey, Travis, Devon; In fourth place the Bottom Feeders: Eric, Cory, Jack, Dylan; In fifth place, Country Road Towing and Glass: William, Corey, Gord, Bianca, Kevin, Mercedes.
It didn’t matter who won or lost, everyone had a great time.
After the big race, it was time to showcase some amazing local talent that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Just when you thought the day couldn’t get any better, it was supper time, and that meal was perfect in every way!
The evening wrapped up with Neon Madmen, who you might remember from last year’s event. They are still riding high and playing some of the best music of all time including classics from the Tragically Hip, Weezer, and many more.
Congratulations to the organizers of the 2026 Wawanesa Pound, Pail and Paddle; you have outdone yourselves!
