Solstice Days continues to shine
When it comes to Baldur’s Annual Solstice Days, the excitement is undeniable, and everyone is left saying, “WOW!” Each year, this event continues to get better.
The pulled pork supper was, as always, a huge hit and the perfect way to kick off the Friday evening festivities. After supper, the Baldur Regals faced off against the Cartwright Twins in a thrilling game that ended with 4 – 0 win for the Twins in a well played game.
Friday night also featured a lively street-dance/foam party for the kids making for a fun-filled evening.
Beginning at 9 p.m. inside the hockey arena was a corn hole tournament which had an entry of 32 teams with Raegan Johnson and Brody DeBaets coming on top.
Saturday morning began early with a busy pancake breakfast that attracted many people and more children’s entertainment got underway.
A very well-attended rummage sale was held at the Baldur Curling Club, adding to the weekend’s excitement which was put on the Baldur Volunteer Enrichment Group.
This year, the Show and Shine event showcased 67 different vehicles, featuring cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even a side-by-side. The winners of the three random prizes were: Louis Boulet, Trevor Holm and Dave Lavergne. Show and Shine organizer Alan Skardal was thrilled with the turnout, stating, “This is our best year yet! What a fantastic day! So many vehicles and so many people checking them out, it was great to see!”
The Baldur Flower Committee also hosted their annual plant giveaway. Committee Chair Tammy McIntosh expressed her excitement: “We had another successful giveaway and received some wonderful donations from the community! It’s nice to see both repeat customers and new faces. Everyone seems really happy to receive the plants for free, and it is great to witness their responses!”
This year’s Belgian Bowling had 21 participating with Ken Almey, Reg Adams and Brian DeMeuleneire ending up with the most points at the end of the competition.
The afternoon featured a mixed softball tournament which featured seven teams, an excellent cold plate supper, lots of fun and games with a DJ capping the night off at the Beer Gardens.
Baldur’s Summer Solstice Days is a celebration of community and joy, with the event never failing to impress.
