Cypress River & Area Foundation disburses grants

On Tuesday, May 5, the Cypress River and Area Foundation held its annual meeting to share the nine disbursements made.

According to their website; “Our Community Foundation was established in 2004. The Foundation provides a community-based fund for anyone who wishes to donate funds to our community.”

Your gift to the Cypress River and Area Foundation is an expression of gratitude to the community, and of your desire to benefit future generations.

Your contribution can be made in several ways:
* a gift or pledge of money,
* a bequest in a will,
* a gift of life insurance by naming the Cypress River and Area Foundation as a beneficiary,
* a gift in memory of a relative or friend,
* a multi-year pledge. You make an initial contribution and a commitment to add to the initial donation over a period of years.

Gifts are never “spent” or “used-up”. The funds are invested, and will remain untouched in perpetuity. Only the interest will be used for community projects, thereby creating a growing pool of dollars for the betterment of Cypress River in the future.

This year, $29,733 was distributed:
* Annual scholarship – $1,000
* Cypress Senior Centre – $3,300
* Cypress River Resource Centre – $3,000
* Cypress Memorial Hall – $5,000
* Cypress River Fire Department – $3,500
* Cypress River Agricultural Society – $933
* Cypress River MPCC – $4,000
* Cypress River Lodge – $4,500
* Prairie Wind Music Festival – $4,500

Donations of $20 or more made to the Cypress River and Area Foundation will qualify for a charitable donation receipt.

To donate to the Foundation, cheques for contributions can be mailed to: Cypress River & Area Foundation, P.O. Box 86, Cypress River, MB R0K 0P0.

If you are planning to make a charitable donation, consider a local area Foundation that will support essential projects in our communities for many years to come.

Area Foundations work diligently to support community entities, helping to keep our small towns thriving and sustainable.
