Baldur’s Summer Solstice Days continues to impress
It takes more than thunder, lightning and rain to dampen the spirits of anyone attending this annual event.
The pulled pork supper on Friday night, the free pancake breakfast on Saturday morning and the cold plate supper were all greatly enjoyed by everyone in attendance – but that is no surprise, Baldur is known far and wide for their spectacular feasts!
The Regals didn’t manage to pull off a win at this years Solstice kick off, but it is fantastic to see such a young team with such heart.
Belgian Hat Bowling which is always popular took place on Friday night. A Linament Ball tourney took place Saturday and even though the rain did cause a slow down on the games played, the games picked up where they left off when the downpours stopped.
A Cornhole (bean bag) tournament was held on Friday evening with 32 teams participating.
Fortunately the kid’s entertainment could be moved indoors and a great time was had by all.
Due to the inclement weather, the car and bike segment did suffer from a lower than expected number of entrants, but those who were there enjoyed a large number of onlookers.
Even with the recurring downpours, bringing interruptions in the scheduled festivities, everyone in attendance had a fantastic time, being able to catch up with friends and family.
Saturday evening a Beer Pong tournament with 28 teams competing and another Corn Hole tournament was also held with another 32 teams entered.
Proceeds from this annual event are used by the Baldur Recreation Centre for upgrades, as well as day to day operations.
A huge thank you to the army of volunteers who gave so much time to ensure that this year’s Annual Solstice Days was another roaring success!
A thank you as well to all the sponsors and attendees.
