Baldur Curling Club to host Glow Curling evenings
Baldur Curling Club has decided to introduce Glow Curling to anyone that wants to give it a shot. The curling rings have been painted with a special paint that glows in the dark with the use of black lights. The Baldur Recreation Centre plans on hosting a few Friday night evenings of fun during the season and a fun glow spiel planned for Saturday, November 28th.
Glow Curling: A Whole New Way to Experience the Game!
Imagine stepping into a curling rink where the regular lights are turned down, black lights illuminate the ice and music fills the air. The curling rocks, rink markings and players’ neon clothing stand out under the lights, creating an exciting atmosphere unlike a traditional night of curling. Welcome to Glow Curling!
Glow Curling is a fun, recreational twist on the traditional sport of curling. It combines the familiar game of sliding rocks down the ice with a lively, glow-in-the-dark experience. Using black lights, fluorescent glowing accessories and music, an ordinary curling rink is transformed into a colourful and entertaining place to play.
How Does Glow Curling Work?
The game itself is much like regular curling. The difference is in the surroundings! With the regular rink lights dimmed or turned off, black lights bring fluorescent colours to life. Special lighting, glowing tape, illuminated curling rock handles and bright rink markings help create the glowing effect. Players are encouraged to wear white or neon-coloured clothing, along with glow necklaces, bracelets and other accessories. Add some upbeat music, a little friendly competition and plenty of laughter, and you have an evening of Glow Curling!
Who Can Participate?
One of the best things about Glow Curling is that it can be enjoyed by a wide range of participants. Experienced curlers can enjoy a different atmosphere, while newcomers can experience the sport in a relaxed and social setting.
The Baldur Recreation Centre will be experimenting over the next couple of weeks for what works best for lighting up curling stones as this a new experience for them as well. Watch for the first evening!
