Armand Vallotton is vying for the Reeve’s chair in the RM of Prairie Lakes

Armand Vallotton is vying for the Reeve’s chair in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

Armand and his partner Connie settled on their farm located just north of Ninette sixteen years ago.

Together they raised four children and now are grandparents to five wonderful grandchildren.

Armand proudly admits, ā€˜Our commitment to this area runs deep, and it’s heartening to see two of our daughters invest in property and farmland at Noble Lake.ā€

Why have you chosen to run for Reeve in the upcoming Municipal election?

ā€œI am eager to give back to a community that has given so much to my family. My experience includes two terms as Councilor and a six-month tenure as Reeve during my initial term, which has equipped me well for this role.

I also bring over 30 years of municipal public works experience, and my service as a foreman has given me valuable insights into the challenges we face in rural municipalities. I also have 35 years of experience as a volunteer firefighter and remain actively involved with Prairie Lakes Fire Department.ā€

Why did you initially run for Council?

I initially ran for council because I firmly believe that constructive participation is essential to improving our municipality. My commitment to this belief drives my desire to serve once again as Reeve.ā€

During your two terms on the RM of Prairie Lakes Council, what milestones have been achieved?

ā€œDespite budget constraints, our council has achieved significant milestones during my time in office:
– Completion of crucial road improvement projects.
– Construction of two transfer stations.
– Successful redevelopment of the Dunrea Goose Cabrea.
– Enhanced fire protection through the acquisition of new equipment and training, alongside a partnership with the Wawanesa Fire Department for improved emergency response.
– Active participation on both Veterinary Services Boards, serving as Vice-Chair for Glenboro and Chair for Killarney, which enabled us to secure over $200,000 in grants for veterinary equipment.
– Participation in the Glenboro Health Clinic Board, assisting with the new facility’s construction and grand opening.
– Support for funding initiatives to attract and retain locum physicians in Killarney, ensuring our community’s healthcare needs are met.ā€

Those are definitely significant accomplishments! Going forward, what would your priorities be if elected as the new Reeve of the RM of Prairie Lakes?

ā€œIf entrusted with the role of Reeve, my priorities will focus on:

Roads and Infrastructure
We must establish a consistent road improvement program, upgrading two to five miles annually to accommodate modern agricultural demands and increasing traffic.

Healthcare
Collaborating closely with neighboring municipalities to enhance healthcare services is paramount. We must advocate for quality care that is easily accessible to all residents.

Seniors
Expanding and enhancing programs for seniors is critical, including better transportation options that will keep them engaged and connected to our communities.

Regional Cooperation
I will maintain active involvement in the Western Municipal Caucus, working with provincial ministers to address shared challenges across municipalities, ensuring our residents have a strong voice.

Tourism and Economic Growth and Development
Revitalizing tourism in our municipality and supporting local businesses is essential to keeping our communities vibrant. Our small towns thrive during the summer, and we must create opportunities that draw visitors and encourage them to explore, shop, and enjoy our area.

Trusted Leadership
As your Reeve, I will be dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure that supports our communities, both now and for future generations. You can count on me to:
– Be available for your calls.
– Listen attentively to your concerns.
– Advocate for discussion on important issues.
– Provide timely responses, whether the news is positive or challenging.
– Respect and wisely utilize taxpayer funds.

I believe in harnessing the expertise of our elected representatives and the talented staff we have rather than relying on external consultants when local knowledge and experience can guide us effectively.ā€

Currently, Armand is actively campaigning and has asked that anyone in the RM of Prairie Lakes with questions, comments, or concerns reach out to him directly at 431-266-0430.
