Cypress River Lodge hosts groundbreaking ceremony for new carport
The Cypress River Lodge Inc. (Lodge) was conceived as a low-rent housing solution in 1972. After several years of navigating government regulations and securing funding, construction finally began in July 1976.
On July 3, 1977, the Lodge held its official opening, achieving 100% occupancy right from the start.
In 2000, a modification was made to combine two single suites into one larger suite, resulting in a total of eight single suites and three double suites.
The proximity of the Lodge Inc. to local businesses, the Senior Centre, and the Memorial Hall has made this accommodation very convenient for its residents.
Fast forward to 2026, and exciting changes are underway!
On May 30th, the Lodge Board hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony, inviting everyone to view the plans for a new carport. Starting at 1 p.m., a large crowd gathered to enjoy hot dogs, celebratory cake, and fellowship. There was also an impressive selection of prizes in the Rainbow Auction, along with a 50/50 draw and a door prize!
Barry Tack, the Chair of the Lodge Board, delivered a heartfelt speech to the crowd in attendance, indicating that construction would commence in mid-June.
Photos were then taken with the Board members and residents of the Lodge, marking this significant moment.
This project represents a great step forward for the Cypress River Lodge Inc. Congratulations to everyone involved!
