229 served at Knights of Columbus waffle breakfast

The Knights of Columbus hosted their annual Waffle Brunch fundraiser on March 1st at the new Swan Lake Community Center. This spacious and well-lit hall features a fully equipped kitchen and a large stage, making it an ideal venue for a huge variety of events, including this Waffle Brunch.

After arriving at the Brunch and getting into line, we noticed that just minutes later, the line behind us had quickly stretched across the hall. The short wait was an excellent opportunity to catch up with friends.

Some groups had arrived much earlier and were already leaving, while others enjoyed coffee and conversation at their tables.

The waffle makers, affectionately called the “waffle kings,” were hard at work, easily meeting demand by adding additional waffle irons to keep up. Batter was methodically poured into the waffle irons, and soon, golden-brown waffles would emerge. Heaping bowls of fruit, butter, and whipped cream were at the ready to complement the waffles, with a splash of syrup and some sausages to complete the meal. Guests were then ready to carry their plates to their chosen tables to enjoy the feast.
For anyone who couldn’t make it this year, you missed an amazing meal. The waffles were cooked to perfection, crispy and sweet on the outside, yet soft and warm on the inside. The sausages had just the right amount of saltiness, and the toppings were perfect in every way.

In addition to a fantastic meal, there was also a rainbow auction featuring a huge array of prizes up for grabs.

According to Mark Lebeau, this year, 229 people were served, marking “the biggest crowd ever.”

Thank you to everyone who supported the event and to the Knights of Columbus for another fantastic Waffle Brunch.
