Ryan Hebb’s Cross-Canada Bike Tour brings him to Baldur
In a world where the hustle and bustle can often overshadow personal connections, Ryan Hebb from Wileville, Nova Scotia, is taking a different route – literally. Currently on a cross-Canada bike tour, Ryan’s journey is not just about cycling; it’s about reconnecting with himself, his family, and friends while embracing the beauty of the open road.
Ryan embarked on his adventure on April 2, 2025, armed with nothing but his mountain bike, the bare essentials of supplies, and a spirit of exploration. His commitment to biking across Canada stems from a realization he had during his post-secondary studies in Astrophysics. Despite his brilliant academic pursuits, Ryan found himself losing touch with his own identity. Acknowledging the need for help, he reached out to his family, who provided him with the support and encouragement he needed on his road to recovery.
Over time and much healing, Ryan realized the importance of reaching out for help and the critical need to prioritize his mental health. This epiphany led him to commit to the bike tour, which he saw as a way to challenge himself physically and reconnect with his inner self.
Having covered approximately 5000 kilometres already, Ryan shared he is about two-thirds of the way to his destination, Vancouver. His experiences on the road have been a mix of challenges and triumphs. From encountering kind strangers who offered assistance to dealing with bike repairs and navigating the frustrations of highway traffic.
Ryan’s resilience shines through. He candidly shares his ups and downs in his blog, making his journey relatable and inspiring.
Ryan’s adventure is about more than just the destination; it’s a testament to personal growth. He’s learned to listen to his body, adapt to challenges, and embrace the community around him. Each stop along the way serves as an opportunity to connect with a variety of people, reminding him of the importance of relationships in one’s life.
As Ryan travels towards Vancouver, he remains open to where the journey will take him next. With no fixed plans beyond that point, he embodies the spirit of adventure, ready to explore further, whether it leads him to return home or to take on the U.S. and beyond.

Ron and Suzanne Paddock recently had Ryan stay with them.
Several years ago Ryan’s parents Ben and Donna had purchased a donkey from the Paddocks and have kept in touch with the Paddocks since then. When Ryan was almost in Manitoba, the Hebb’s called to ask if their son Ryan could make a stop for a visit and to recharge.
The Paddocks were thrilled to meet Ryan and have him stay with them. He was a great help around the farm and even rode in the wagon with Ron in the Cypress River Ag Society 130th Anniversary parade.
Although it was a quick visit, Ryan has left a lasting impression on the Paddocks.
