Ninette hosts a spectacular Canada Day event
In a joint effort between the LUD of Ninette (LUD) and the Pelican Lake Ag Society (Ag Society), a spectacular Canada Day event was hosted in Ninette, bringing hundreds of people to town to enjoy food, games, music and a magnificent fireworks display.
Starting at 6 p.m., the concession stand opened for supper serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs. According to Eva Miller, AG Society rep and volunteer; “There was a good crowd with lots of visiting with family and friends. We served approximately 175 people at the concession.”
A variety of yard games were available for play, keeping numerous small crowds busy as they played and watched.
The music of Prairie Daisy, a local mother/daughter duo, was spot on, getting all ages tapping their toes and singing along with many favourites.
We spoke with several families who had come down to enjoy an evening of activities.
“We stayed at our Grandma’s camper”, one young lady shared. “Then Grandma brought us here to play games and have supper. It is so much fun!”
Another family sadly said they were unable to stay for the fireworks this year due to work obligations the next day. “But we have friends videoing the fireworks so we can see them tomorrow!”
According to Leanne Treloar, member of the LUD and one of several organizers of the event, the fireworks was partially paid for through a provincial grant, with the remaining cost being budgeted for and covered by the LUD.
Congratulations Ninette on hosting another fantastic Canada Day celebration!
