Mariapolis farm house and contents destroyed by fire
On Friday, January 26 at 12:36 p.m. members of the Baldur and Glenora Fire Departments were dispatched to a structure fire located approximately 15 miles south east of Baldur.
The initial call to 911 was made by a vehicle passing by the farm yard of Lionel and Joanie Ricard of Mariapolis when he noticed a large amount of smoke pouring out of the house. No one was home at the time of the fire.
When the Baldur Fire Department arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames and unfortunately they were unable to extinguish it on initial attack.
Several trips were made to community wells and to the Glenora Fire Hall for water, as well as two local farmers pitching in bringing hundreds of gallons of water to the scene. The fire was completely extinguished by 4:30 p.m.
The home and all the contents were completely destroyed.
