Glenboro Cat Rescue is still going strong
The Glenboro Cat Rescue Centre (Rescue) is still going strong!
We recently spoke with Myrtle Nichols, the matriarch of the Rescue. She shared that the Rescue is running at capacity with both adult cats and kittens available for adoption.
The annual quilt raffle was a roaring success with the lucky winner being Taylor Conrad who was thrilled with the beautiful quilt.
During ‘Tis the Season’ day in Glenboro (held in early December) the Glenboro/South Cypress Library hosted its second annual Cookie Walk, a fundraiser event for the Rescue. This year, 36 people donated cookies; enough cookies to fill to brimming, long tables stretching from the front of the library all the way to the back of the library.
The Cookie Walk was held between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. – the last pail was sold by the end of the sale!
In addition to the very popular Cookie Walk, renowned local artist Kathy Mcilvride donated breathtaking hand decorated bookmarks which were a very hot commodity, being quickly snapped up, and Lorna Hamilton donated 6 beautiful and specially made Glenboro Cat Rescue Centre calendars for 6 separate draws.
100% of the day’s Rescue fundraising proceeds will be used to pay bills for the medical care of the cats and kittens at the Rescue.
The Glenboro Veterinary Clinic generously applies discounts to the Rescues account, but the amount of care needed by the cats and kittens in care adds up – spay and neutering, vaccinations, deworming and medications for various health issues are all necessities and can not be put off.
It is through diligent health care, socialization and dedicated love that the cats and kittens at the Rescue are healthy, happy and ready to become your forever friend.

The Rescue always welcomes donations of food, litter and other cat related materials – they can be dropped off at the Rescue, or you can call Myrtle at 204-827-3962 to arrange a pick up.
Monetary donations to the Rescue can be made through the RM of Glenboro-South Cypress office. Charitable donations receipts will be issued for eligible donations.
