A much sought after bingo caller ...
Flo Robinson has been a much sought after bingo caller since 1995 when she started calling at the bingos held in Belmont.
She remained at this post until they closed down in 2000.
But this didn’t mean the end of Flo’s passion.
When Ninette started up their bingos shortly after Belmont’s ended, Flo contacted the Bingo Committee and, although she didn’t want to be part of the Committee, she was more than willing to be the weekly caller.
The Committee jumped at the chance and the rest, as they say, is history.
Through the years there has been much fun and merriment, with a story surrounding the calling of O69 – Flo said she couldn’t share the associated story because, in her words, “It isn’t really appropriate for the paper.”
Committee member and organizer, Shari Tenhave shared that, “Flo always makes the evening entertaining, and everyone loves her”; and honestly, after attending a Ninette bingo evening, I have to fully agree. Flo interacts with the crowd like they are family, making everyone feel welcome.
I asked Flo why after all these years she is still calling bingo.
“Because I love it! I love the camaraderie and getting to know people from all over. I have made so many friends. I will continue doing this until they fire me.”
Fire you? That’ll never happen – you are a very much loved part of the Wednesday Ninette Bingo fun!
If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a Wednesday evening, join the crowd at the Ninette Hall starting at 6:45 p.m. for the early bird and 7:00 p.m. for regular bingo.
Thank you Flo for bringing sunshine into a world that can be a gloomy place!
