Constuction underway for new day care in Baldur
In February of 2023, the n Progressive Conservative the provincial government announced that a $94 million total investment would be made with the governments of Canada and Manitoba, partnering with Municipalities, in a 2-phase project put forth to create a total of 1670 new child care spaces in Manitoba.
Baldur was one of the lucky towns to be chosen to receive a portion of this grant money to allow the creation of a new daycare centre which as previously reported will have a maximum capacity for 40 children of varying ages.
Fast forward to January 2024.
If you have been through the town of Baldur you may have noticed fencing having been erected and several pieces of equipment on the space designated for the new daycare building, located just south of the area known as Veteran Park, a huge green space and perfect location for this facility.
Currently there is a wait on for Manitoba Hydro to install service to the space and the building pieces to arrive.
It has been shared that once the pieces of the building arrive to the prepared space, it takes only 3 days for the bones of the structure to be assembled.
Although work can be completed inside the new space over the winter, the landscaping and parking area must wait until spring to be completed.
Moving forward with this new facility is exciting for not only families within Baldur but also areas surrounding Baldur – there are a number of families waiting for much needed daycare spaces for their children.
