Glenboro Baldur baseball team headed to provincials

The Glenboro/Baldur combined high school baseball team consists of 11 players from Glenboro and 4 players from Baldur this season. The team finished tied for first after the brief 4 game schedule with a 3-1 record. That set them up with a playoff game against the Nellie McClung Stingers. That first playoff game featured a really solid pitching performance from Lachlan Jones, who threw all 6 innings. The entire lineup was hitting the ball and allowed the team to put up 12 runs leading to a 12-2 win by mercy.

That set up a finals matchup against the Pilot Mound Pilots. A couple of baserunning errors by the Pilots and some solid pitching execution by starting pitcher Preston Shearer was able to limit the Pilots runs early. A momentum swinging moment of the game came when the Pilots elected to intentionally walk Jones to put runners on first and second base with 2 out. Landon Bouwman stepped up to the plate and ripped a double the other way that ended up scoring both runs. That led to a few more runs as the team ended up batting around. From there more solid pitching by Kelby Diehl and Mike Wytinck was able to secure an 8-2 win.

The win booked the team a spot in Provincials taking place May 30, 31 june 1st in Reston. They face Garden City and Goose Lake.
