Glenboro Golf & Country Club having a good season
Brent Pringle, president of the Glenboro Golf & Country Club, reports a successful year with strong memberships, thriving tournaments, and well-maintained fairways and greens. “The course is looking really good, the food is great, and we are replacing a well. We have a new greens mower, and the rough mower is being repaired,” said Pringle. He noted the sandy soil allows the course to benefit from any available moisture.
The new well, capable of pumping 150 gallons per minute, significantly outperforms the old one, which managed only 30 GPM.
Attendance at the Tuesday night Chase the Ace has been steady, and Pringle praised Darrell and Alice Barr for running the successful fundraiser over the past two seasons. “We will also have a beautiful addition of a gazebo on the east side of the clubhouse. There will be a grand opening with family sponsors later this summer,” Pringle added, promising more details to follow.
Both Ladies’ and Men’s nights remain popular, with Men’s Night featuring three shotgun starts and a fourth one coming up due to the Hole in One competition. Senior Tournaments have also seen good participation, although the Men’s Tournament scheduled for July 13th was canceled due to low entries. “It was unfortunate we had to cancel, but the numbers just weren’t there. Weekends in the summer are busy, and I guess it was just one of those weekends with a lot happening,” Pringle remarked.
Pringle extended his gratitude to Bryce Watson for managing the tournaments and to the greens staff – Jim Riopelle, Cody Drinkwater, and summer students Jackson Neale and Aiden Vallotton – for their work in maintaining the course’s excellent condition.
He also reminded everyone that the course will be closed on Monday, July 29, for Marathon Monday. Dylan Thornborough and Patrick Law will be attempting to break the world record of 306 holes played in 12 hours. “I’m sure no one will have an issue with this, and I’m confident that if someone were to sit on the patio for an hour, they will see these two men teeing off a couple of times,” Pringle concluded.
