Glenora Historical Society honours the lives of Eveyln Odell and Muriel Wickens
A tea was held at the Glenora Church in honour of the memory of Evelyn Odell and Muriel Wickens.
According to Doris Heaver, “it was a lovely gathering of family and friends.” The rain held off and the day couldn’t have been more perfect!
Doris went on to share some of the history of the Glenora Historical Society, that Evelyn, Muriel and also Maudie Comber were the founding members of:
‘Maudie, who passed away in 2011, always wanted a rose garden at the Church in Glenora, so after she passed, a sign was designed and created for The Maudie Comber Memorial Rose Garden. The Board decided to follow that lead and designated the shade garden, The Muriel Wickens Memorial Shade Garden. A motion was made to purchase perennials for The Tier Garden, creating The Evelyn Odell Memorial Tier Garden.
The three of them incorporated the Glenora Historical Society around the inception and made possible grants from federal and provincial governments which served us well.
Avril Mochoruk made a great speech that explained the old meetings with the three and talked about the projects over the years.’
What a perfect way to remember and celebrate!
