
Glenboro Canucks U13 girls win league tournament
The girls U13 Glenboro Canucks played in the Tiger Hills Softball League Final Tournament consisting of 16 teams on June 20th and 21st in Altona, MB. The Canucks team includes players from Baldur, Cartwright and Glenboro.
The girls had their first game on Friday evening against the Carberry Royals with pitching duties shared by Lexi Kemp, Hailey Davidson and Emma Cornock. Lexi Kemp hit a triple, Hailey Davidson hit a double and singles were dolled out by Lily Janz, Ashley Elliott, Emma Cornock and Emily Elliott. The girls pulled off an 8-7 win.
On Saturday morning, the team faced off against the Morden Mudhens with Emma Cornock and Lexi Kemp sharing the mound. Ashley Elliott had a double and a single at the plate. Other singles were hit by Hailey Davidson, Callie Boles, Ivy Nelson, Emily Elliott and Lexi Kemp hitting two to secure another win 14-9.
In the afternoon, the Canucks faced Altona White. Emma Cornock dominated on the mound with 7 strikeouts within three innings, allowing only two runs. Ashley Elliott and Lexi Kemp both hit doubles and singles were hit by Emily Elliott, Hailey Davidson, and Emma Cornock with two bringing the team to their third win with a final score of 11-4.
The day ended with the final game vs. Carman Cardinals. Lexi Kemp was the winning pitcher allowing no runs in three innings despite the rain setting in during the final inning. Lexi hit two triples, Hailey Davidson hit a double and singles were hit by Lily Janz, Callie Boles and Ivy Nelson with two. The girls celebrated a well-deserved gold medal win with a score of 8-1 and the title of Tiger Hills Softball League Champions.
They have had a fantastic season, sitting in first place on the West side of the League and are looking forward to Provincials in Portage la Prairie, July 5-7.
