Treherne bottle structures is a great place to tour

Recycling means different things to different people.

Bob and Dora Cain of Treherne took the idea of recycling to new heights, decades before recycling became a part of our day- to-day lives.

With an idea being hatched, this creatively artistic couple began collecting bottles back in 1979 with a plan to build something completely different.

During the early 1980’s a house, church and wishing well were completed with literally thousands of bottles being used in their creations. The church, complete with a pulpit and organ, is reported to have taken 5,000 bottles to complete.

Every inch of each structure is awe-inspiring.

Eventually they constructed a fully functional glass bottle washroom for the convenience and comfort of the many visitors to their bottle creations.

Originally built on the family farm, in 2007, the buildings and wishing well were moved to town for everyone to enjoy.

It is now the perfect stop for a picnic and a tour.
