Celebrating 65 years is Sweet!
Dwayne Drinkwater of Glenboro, Manitoba received his 65th consecutive shipping award from Manitoba Cooperative Honey Producers on Dec. 5/2023. This is the longest standing award for an individual shipping honey to the co-op in Manitoba!
67 years ago, Dwayne started out with two hives which he has grown substantially since.
Dwayne and Irene Drinkwater have become well known for their honey in the local area and as far as the east and west coast. Producing honey over the years is something Dwayne is very passionate about and has been a fulfilling livelihood for him and his family.
On Thursday, March 21st, Dwayne and Irene were invited to the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Gala in Winnipeg, honouring the 2024 award Recipients. Manitoba Cooperative Honey Producers received the Pioneer Award for being a Manitoba company in business for 86 years.
The video clip played at the Gala showcased local area beekeepers that have been with the Co-op for many years and their stories. Dwayne and family were highlighted in this video. A film crew had come out earlier in the year, on behalf of the Honey Co-op, to do an interview with Dwayne and other beekeepers on their livelihood and years of dedicated shipping to the Co-op. This 5 minute film was put together and used for the Pioneer Award so it was an honour to see Dwayne portrayed in this prestigious award.
Here’s to the success of 67 years in the honey business and 65 years delivering honey to the Honey Co-op in Winnipeg!
