Prairie Lakes Rec Complex hosts Open House
The Committee who has taken over the Prairie Lakes Rec Complex (Complex) have been kept busy hosting open houses and indoor yard sales, but they have done even more behind the scenes!
The open house at the Complex held October 6 really showcased what the building has to offer.
New sports equipment prominently on display is already being well used. Drop In sports started October 1, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive!
Committee member Jordan Paradis, who has been one of the major driving forces behind the evening sports calendar said he is “impressed that so many people have embraced the evening drop-in sports program, it is really great so see!”
Jordan went on to share that they have also started receiving bookings for several birthday parties and Christmas parties. It really is the perfect spot to have a catered supper and then have space to enjoy games and merriment after.
Those in attendance at the Open House were offered coffee and a choice of several types of donuts.
Also in attendance were the Dunrea Fire Department offering BBQ hotdogs, drink and chips for only $5.
The Firefighters raised $333 in sales and donations to be used towards emergency signage for the Department.
RM of Prairie Lakes Reeve Darren Seymour and CAO Kevin Cameron stopped in for lunch and a visit.
They were both very impressed with what the Committee has done since taking over, with Reeve Seymour quoted as saying, “This is great to see! The rejuvenated interest in the old school is so welcome. The Committee organizing, and making available a centre for a variety of sports and other activities to not only Dunrea but also for the entire area is fantastic.” CAO Kevin Cameron shared a heartfelt, “thank you to the Committee!” Going on to express, “the building looks great, I have never seen it look this good. They have obviously put a lot of work into it and it shows.”
The huge number of people who came through the door during the open house would not disagree.
There are still a few office spaces available for rent and if you are looking for space for a large or small family event, business get together or any other event, consider the Complex.
Evening drop-in sports, for anyone 13 years of age or older, will be running for several more months. The cost to join is only $5 a session.
November 17, 2024, the Committee will be hosting a Craft Sale from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
If you would like additional information on rentals or their drop-in sports program, or the November 17 craft sale please email plrc2024@outlook.com or call 204-534-8112 or 204-523-0192.
Congratulations and thank you to the Prairie Lakes Rec Complex Committee!
