At 2:55 a.m. on May 15th members of the Baldur & Glenora Fire Departments were paged to a structure fire located at 221 Third Street in Baldur.

Upon arrival to the residence of Jesse and Leanna Janz, their hoouse was totally engulfed in flames resulting a complete and devastating loss.

Leanna woke up to the sound of some noise in her home thinking it was one of the kids sleep walking but soon discovered their house was on her fire and quickly rescued her two children from their bedrooms. Jesse and Leanne and family were able to get out safely and making a call to 911 and also waking up their neighbors and evacuating them from their homes as well.

The fire department was very relieved on arrival to find out from their fellow firefighter that everyone was safely removed.

Firefighters were able to connect to a close by fire hydrant which was game changer with an unlimited water supply along with their two pumpers and water trucks. They were able to extinguish the blaze within a couple of hours as well as save the two homes located on both sides of them. The neighboring houses had damage to their vinyl siding.

The Janz’s SUV which was situated in front of the house at the time of blaze was also destroyed by the heat.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
